What’s Hypstage?

Hypstage (or Hypsute / ヒプステ) is a 2.5D stage production put on by Nelke Planning and overseen by King Records, directed by Ueki Go and written by Kameda Shinjiro. The current Music Director is KEN THE 390.

Though it loosely follows the plot progression of the Hypnosis Mic drama tracks, Hypstage is officially designated as a non-canon “side story” and is renowned for its different interpretations of canon events and original stories that can be enjoyed with or without knowledge of the source material. Several Stage-Original Divisions and Characters appear throughout Hypstage as well.

Hypstage began in 2019 with track.1, and the most recent production is Battle of Pride 2026 from October 2026.

Do I need to know anything about Hypnosis Mic to watch Hypstage?

Nope!

While there are some stages that may benefit from having some background knowledge on the characters and their situations, you do not need to know a thing about the source material to enjoy Hypstage. Even the stages that stick closest to the source material do not adapt it directly, meaning you can have a unique, enjoyable experience without any knowledge of the other parts of the franchise.
